SOP Modules

PB University now offers the complete online curriculum for CMAA Standards of Practice. The SOP modules offer a comprehensive, self paced instructional program delivered by industry leading Certified Construction Managers. 

This 16.5 hour online curriculum is excellent education for those interested in learning more about the core competencies of professional Construction Managers and individuals preparing for the CCM examination. Courses are self-paced and include assessments.

Contract Administration

This course reviews project delivery methods, compensation forms and specific contract types, and the importance of contract administration across pre-design, design, procurement, construction and project close-out. Constructability reviews and documentation are also examined in detail.

Cost Management

This module provides an overview of the tools and methods for managing cost within construction management. It explains the CM’s role and responsibilities for controlling project cost, describes methods for developing the project and construction estimates and budget, explains the Cost Management System and how to monitor and manage cost during all construction phases.

Professional Practice

Professional Practice - Role of the CM

What makes a CM a professional? This course provides an understanding of the CMAA Code of Ethics, compares the roles of CM and PM, and provides an understanding of fee schedules, agency and at-risk CM participation.

Project Management

This course teaches the manager's roles, responsibilities and liabilities. Key traits of a successful project leader and Project Manager are identified; the student will learn how the project goals are supported by PM at each project phase.

Quality Management

Learn the all-important quality management goals and methods used by CMs to ensure owner satisfaction. Students will come to understand the details of "Quality Systems in Construction" in the various phases of the project. Specific management tools and techniques are also covered. Prior knowledge of this subject is not required, but would be helpful.

Safety Management

This module introduces you to the tools and methods for ensuring safety and minimizing risk in construction management. Topics include roles and responsibilities, project safety plan, OSHA requirements and liability, typical safety hazards and more.

Time Management

Time Management/CPM Lab

This module provides a basic overview of time management and CPM scheduling in construction management. Upon completion of the course, you should be able to explain the importance of time management in construction management, describe the fundamentals of critical path method scheduling, and explain how time impacts the project schedule.
